— why Buacouns

What distinguishes the teaching here

A reading-centred approach

Each course is built around close reading of primary documents — fee disclosures, annual reports, policy terms — rather than simplified summaries.

Cohorts of around fifteen

Courses are kept deliberately small so the instructor can follow each student's progress and the group can discuss openly.

Written exercises throughout

Students write and receive written commentary. Reading and writing together sharpen the kind of careful attention that financial documents require.

Malaysia-specific content

Worked examples are drawn from Bursa Malaysia listings and Malaysian financial products. The context is local from the first session.

Evening schedule

All courses run in the evenings so they fit alongside existing work and professional commitments without disruption.

No pressure, no deadlines

There is no urgency in the teaching. Students are welcome to ask questions at length and revisit topics that need more time.
